Salad, anyone?

As a creature from planet Venus, I want to be in shape, toned, with a flat tummy & rounded arse. But then again, we all have to face reality. I have (in my standards) a flat chest, a wide, flat bum, flabby thighs, & no toned stomach. I've been working out, trying to get in shape, but it takes crazy determination, discipline & a healthy diet. I've been doing 2 sets of 25 leg lifts, at least 2 minutes of planking, lunges, & bicycle legs every night. I've cut down on all snacks besides hi-fibre crackers, less carbohydrates, more white meat like chicken & fish, less red meat, more vegetables & fruits, more water, & of course, more sleep.

It isn't as tough as it seems. Takes only about 15-20 minutes every day, rather than spending the time being a couch potato. I know it is a difficult task to have a healthy diet with limited choices of food. But hey, that's the opportunity cost for wanting a great body right? The only thing you can temper around with many choices of ingredients you like would be... A salad.

Many who claims they are on a "healthy diet" or try to put on a front to show people they're being healthy, have no knowledge whatsoever about salads. In restaurants, people tend to order the Caesar salad. A personal favourite, I must admit. But did you know that one serving of Caesar salad contains 200 calories? You can only burn 200 calories with 38 minutes of cycling! The salad dressing itself contains cream, butter & fat, besides grilled bacon (sounds delish!) in the salad mixture, so it really isn't a surprising fact.

Here are a few salad ideas I found that you can try at home, pretty easy.

Watercress & watermelon salad with feta cheese

The watercress & watermelon salad with feta cheese is our family favourite. I got the picture above from the internet, & it does look like that, except ours is a little different.

INGREDIENTS
-fresh watercress, rinsed
-watermelon, cubed
-feta cheese, cubed
-olive oil
-chopped gurkins
-salt & pepper to taste

All you have to do is just mix all of the above in, but gently as you don't want the watermelon & feta cheese to mash up, & voila, the salad is ready to be served. You can have it with grilled fish fillet seasoned with lemon & garlic, or even grilled chicken seasoned in Cajun pepper & herbs. Tastes absolutely orgasmic!

Next up, is my mum's very own recipe, Vietnamese noodle salad with lemongrass dressing

INGREDIENTS
-lettuce
-cabbage
-rockets
-momotaro tomatoes
-cherry tomatoes
-Vietnamese noodles, boiled & drained

LEMONGRASS DRESSING
-lemongrass
-lemon
-olive oil
-salt & pepper
-a little water

All you have to do is dump the vegetable in a bowl, slice the momotaro & cherry tomatoes, boil & drain the Vietnamese noodles, put it on top on the salad. For the lemongrass dressing, put all the ingredients in a blender until mixture becomes a little watery, but not too fine. Put it on top of the salad, & viola once again, a healthy salad stands before you!

Well, I haven't been feeling very healthy this week, sore throat & feeling very heaty, due to the crazy weather. One moment it'll be raining, & the next, shining so brightly it's insane! Anyways, time to go eat some kick-ass healthy salad yow! Till then...
